Doña Maria Hernandez

Photo representing Doña Maria Hernandez

Represented by Leslie Vilardi

I represent Doña Maria Hernandez, a blanca woman born in Pensacola. My parents were Matias, a native of Daroca in Aragon, Spain; and Antonia DuFars LaFon, born in Mobile. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 38 years old and widowed. I lived with my widowed mother and 3 adult siblings. (It is possible I am the Maria del Pilar Hernandez who married Miguel Andres L’Aine in New Orleans in 1804, described as the daughter of Mathieu Hernandez and Ana LaFont. This possibility has not yet been confirmed as Spanish families often gave the first name “Maria” to more than one daughter.)
