Antonio Pol

I represent Antonio Pol, a European man from Cataluña, Spain. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 51 years old. I was a pulpero, which can be translated as grocer or tavernkeeper. I lived with Ana, a free negra woman. It is likely that we were living as husband and wife (the Spanish did not have the same social taboos against this as the Anglo-Americans), and she may have used my surname.
