I represent one of 34 unnamed enslaved men of color over the age of 45 in the city of Pensacola . There is no documentation of me as an individual; my existence is based on the number of male enslaved persons aged 45+ years old in an 1819 population count: There were 37 enslaved males over the age of 45; the Sampler Project has positively identified 3. There are many enslaved men in the Sampler with no documented age who may fit into this category.
