I represent Adele Noriega, a quadroon woman whose enslavement status in 1821 is unclear. I was born about 1816 in Pensacola. In 1820 I was living in the household of Victoire LeSassier and may have been enslaved. In the court papers related to the divorce of Victoire and Pedro de Alba, I was referred to as the daughter of Charlotte, who was enslaved. In her 1833 will, Victoire says that she reared me and left me real estate property.
