I represent Ana, a free negra woman in the household of Antonio Pol. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 46 years old born in Louisiana and held the occupation of Servant. It is likely that Antonio Pol and I were living as husband and wife (the Spanish did not have the same social taboos against this as the Anglo-Americans), and I may have used his surname.
