I represent Andrew Pickens (“A.P.”) Simpson. I was born in 1792 in South Carolina. I served in the War of 1812, which may have motivated me to seek West Florida as a place of opportunity. My parents brought the family down to the Pensacola area around 1814 from Abbeville, South Carolina. We settled on the Blackwater River and we had the Woodbine Mill up and running by 1820.
