I represent Ann Pickens Simpson. I was born in South Carolina in 1770, the daughter of Revolutionary War veteran Andrew Pickens. I came with my husband, John Simpson, and our children to the Pensacola area around 1814 from Abbeville, South Carolina. We settled on the Blackwater River and my husband and older sons had the Woodbine Mill up and running by 1820. My sons eventually inherited the business. I died in 1846 and am buried in St. Michael’s cemetery.
