I represent Captain Luis Gayarre. I was born in Louisiana in 1777, the son of Don Juan Antonio and Doña Carlota Constanza de Grand Pré Gayarre. My father served under Bernardo de Galvez against the English. I served 23 years in Louisiana Regiment; served as Captain of Pensacola Militia; and commanded the galley La Leal. I was among the Spanish officers who publicly protested the rude treatement of former Spanish Governor Jose Callava during the Vida Affair was ordered deported by General Andrew Jackson for doing so.
