I represent Charlotte Etienne (called Carlota Esteban by the Spanish), a free negra woman born in Port-au-Prince. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 35 years old. I lived in a household with another free woman of color, Maria Carmen, and two small children – though which of us is the children’s mother is not indicated.
