I represent David Cowan. I was appointed Port Warden of Pensacola by General Andrew Jackson under the new American city government of Pensacola. Information on my life has proven difficult to find, though I was corresponding with Mrs. Rachel Jackson from Pensacola by late June 1821. I reference troubles with my family, and a widow and some orphans who had entered my care, but no names or further details seem to be available. I asked General Jackson for any appointment he could give me, including sheriff or notary public.
