I represent Diego Reyes, a European man born in Castile, Spain. I was the son of Juan Reyes and Ana Santiago. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 52 years old and making my living as a pulpero, which can be translated as grocer or tavernkeeper. I was single but shared my home with a free parda woman named Dolores, who worked as a seamstress. It is likely that Dolores and I were living as husband and wife (the Spanish did not have the same social taboos against this as the Anglo-Americans).
