I represent Don Carlos Lavalle, a blanco man born in Mobile. My 1796 request for a grant of land from the Spanish Crown identifies me as the Assistant Apothecary of the town. By the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 48 years old and married to Mariana Pingrow Bonifay, with whom I had maintained a successful business partnership for many years. Four of our children lived in our household, including a widowed daughter and her young child.
