I represent Don Francisco Commyns, a blanco man born in Pensacola. My father was Thomas Commyns, an Englishman who immigrated to Florida in 1769 at the age of 14. He died around 1819. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 19 years old, living with my widowed mother, Maria LaFort Commyns, my 3 adult siblings, a sailor named Ramon, and 3 young children whose relationship to us is not specified. I worked as a guide, though I later owned a sawmill outside of town.. In 1826, I married Maria Josefa Serra, and after her death I married Isabella Quigles McVoy (1838). In 1841, I married again, Angeline S. Francis. I died in 1853 and am buried in St. Michael’s cemtery.
