I represent Don Luis Gagnet (also spelled Gañe), a blanco man born in Pensacola. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 25 years old, and single. I lived in the household of my mother, Doña Maria Felicita Lavalle (widow of my father, Luis Gagnet), and my two adult siblings. I worked as a civil servant in the Spanish government.
Between the census and the changing of the flags, I married Josefa Graupera of New Orleans, on May 25, 1821 at St. Michael’s. My death appears in the burial records of St. Michael’s parish: January 26, 1845, at the age of 50.
