I represent Don Tomas Commyns, a blanco man born in Pensacola. My father was Thomas Commyns, an Englishman who immigrated to Florida in 1769 at the age of 14. He died around 1819. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 31 years old, living with my widowed mother, Doña Maria LaFort Commyns, my 4 siblings, and 3 young children whose relationship to us is not specified. I was a civil servant in the Spanish government of Pensacola. My burial appears in the records of St. Michael’s parish: September 20, 1846.
