I represent Doña Maria Antonia Artacho Morales, a European woman born in Torros, Granada, Spain around 1771. My parents were Joseph and Francisca Villegas Artacho, also natives of Torros. My first husband was Vizente Sanz, who died only days after our wedding in 1791. I then married Miguel Morales, a native of Granada, Spain and first sergeant in the Louisiana Regiment, in 1794 in New Orleans.
At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 49 years old and widowed. I had 8 children living in the household, one born in Louisiana and the rest in Pensacola.
