I represent Dorotea, an enslaved negra woman in the household of Victoire LeSassier. I was listed in Victoire LeSassier’s complaint of divorce from Don Pedro de Alba as being a cook, laundress and ironer; I was 28 years old, though this probably referred to my age in 1813, when the late Don Jose Noriega’s property was divided between Victoire and her son, Jose. In 1824, Don Jose sold me to Gertrudis Sierra y LeSassier, wife of Lt. Cirilo Josef LeSassier, for $800.
