I represent Felicita Dedé, a free parda woman born in Louisiana. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 18 years old, a seamstress, living in the household of Don Fernando Moreno, a blanco man. It is possible we were were living together as husband and wife (the Spanish did not have the same social taboos against this as the Anglo-Americans). Also in the household was another free pardo man working as a carpenter; his relationship to the household is unclear.
