I represent Francisca, a woman of color enslaved in the household of Don Jose Tapiola. I appear in my daughter’s 1817 baptismal record from St. Michael’s. Felicita Margarita was born into slavery by virtue of my enslaved status, and her father was not mentioned – this usually means the man either did not want, or was unable, to acknowledge the child.
