I represent James Bowman. I was born in 1755 in Camden, Kershaw District, South Carolina. I began as a Loyalist in the Revolutionary War, and held a lieutenant’s commission in the militia. I later became a supporter of the Revolution. I and my wife, Susanna, moved our family to the Florida territory around 1816, where I am recorded in Clarke County, Alabama; later we came to Escambia County, Florida. We had 10 children, though only some were young enough to come with us when we came to Florida. I died in 1831.
