Juanillo Mendoza

I represent Juanillo Mendoza, an enslaved young negro man in the household of Pedro Mendoza. I was freed in the 1827 will of Pedro Mendoza, and the release appears in the Escambia County Deed Index in 1833. In Pedro’s will, I was referred to as a “boy,” which can be pejorative in some contexts but in this case probably referred to my youth.
