I represent Luis St. Cyr, a free pardo man born in Louisiana. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 43 years old, a widower, and making my living as a shoemaker. There were 8 children in the household, ranging in age from 5 to 28 – and it is possible the youngest was actually a grandchild but the census record is not clear on this.
