I represent Maria Carlota Ruby, a free parda woman born in Pensacola. I was the daughter of Felix Thompson, a free person of color. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 48 years old and made my living as a laundress. I lived with Salvador Ruby, a free pardo man making his living as a shoemaker. We had 9 children. According to my 1823 will, I inherited property from Salvador Ruby which I left to my children.
