I represent Maria Gordillo, a free parda woman born in Louisiana. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 30 years old and lived with Thomas St. Cyr, a fisherman from Mexico. It is likely that Thomas and I were living as husband and wife as the Spanish did not have the same social taboos against this as the Anglo-Americans.
