I represent Maria Villanueva, a free negra woman born in Louisiana. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 38 years old, single, and making my living as a seamstress. I lived in the household of Adelaida Vidal, along with 6 children who are probably Adelaide’s, but the relationships among members of the household are not entirely clear.
