Doña Mary Weaver LeBaron

Photo representing Doña Mary Weaver LeBaron

I represent Doña Mary Weaver LeBaron, a blanca woman born in Philadelphia. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 36 years old, and lived with my huband Don Charles Leonard LeBaron, a shopkeeper, and my four children.

According to Descendants of Deacon Samuel & Ann Bass (which information has not yet been independently confirmed by 1821 Sampler researchers), I was a niece of Aaron Burr; I met my husband, formerly an Admiral in the French Navy, when he came to Philadelphia in about 1800. I was “a beautiful and charming girl, and the family tradition is that ‘General Jackson invited her to open the Grand Ball, given in celebration of the taking over of Pensacola from the Spaniards,’ which tale was related with pride and pleasure by Mary to her children and grandchildren.”

I died in 1865 in Mobile, and rest in Catholic Cemetery there.
