I represent Matilde, an enslaved negra woman in the household of Victoire LeSassier. I was listed in Victoire LeSassier’s 1830 complaint of divorce from Don Pedro de Alba as being 4 years old, though this probably referred to my age in 1813, when the late Don Jose Noriega’s property was divided between Victoire and her son. In Victoire’s 1833 will, I and my “infants” were bequeathed to her niece, Emilie Noriega Hubbell.
