I represent Rita, an enslaved negra woman in the household of Pedro Mendoza. I was sold to him by Vicente Ordozgoity, along with Lot number 35 and the house thereon, on 24 November of 1817. At the time of the sale I was about 27 years old, and I had come to Don Vicente by purchase from Don Cayetano Garcia. Interestingly, Don Pedro paid over a thousand dollars for me, which was well above the going rate for a slave at the time.
