Thomas Hassel

I represent Thomas Hassel. I held the rank of Ordinary Seaman aboard the U.S. Sloop of War HORNET. I reported on board for the first time on March 24, 1821, in New York. I would love to tell you about the HORNET’s role in the changing of the flags on July 17, 1821, but I deserted from the HORNET while we were anchored in Pensacola Bay, on June 29, 1821. Maybe I stuck around, but I probably didn’t.
