I represent Victoria, a negra woman enslaved in the household of Don Ramon Santiago. I appear in my daughter’s 1817 baptismal record from St. Michael’s. Francisca Agustina was born into slavery by virtue of my enslaved status, and her father was listed as no conocido (unknown) – though this usually means the man either did not want, or was unable, to acknowledge the child.
