I represent Doña Irene Gonzalez, a blanca girl. I was not listed in the 1820 census of Pensacola, because at the time it was taken, I was not born yet. I was a daughter of the rancher Manuel Gonzalez, a Spaniard, and Maria Bonifay Gonzaelez. Our house outside of town was where General Andrew Jackson and his troops camped when he first arrived in the area. Our household was large and consisted of my parents and 8 siblings, including two who were married and had small children.
I married Leocadio Bonifay on November 18, 1839 at St. Michael’s in Pensacola. I died on February 24, 1873 and was laid to rest in St. Michael’s cemetery.
