I represent Doña Joaquina Regalada de la Paz de la Rua (called Joaquina), a blanca woman born in New Orleans in 1802. My parents were Francisco de la Rua of Madrid, and Josefa Suarez Falcon de la Rua, of the city of Tirajana in the Canary Islands. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 16 years old, living in a household with my widowed mother and my four siblings. I would later marry Jose Sierra. I am buried in St. Michael’s cemetery.
