I represent Doña Joesfa Palmes Crespo, a European woman born in the Canary Islands. I was listed in the 1784 census of Pensacola as a 13-year-old girl in the household of my parents, Francisco and Maria Perez Palmes.
In the 1791 Holy Visit to Pensacola by the Bishop of Tricali, I am listed with my family as having made confession and taken communion in 1790 and 1791.
At the time of the 1820 census in Pensacola, I was 48 years old and widowed, living with 5 of my children (at least one, Ana Teresa, was married and in her own household; and my adult son, Jose, was deceased). Also in my household was my widowed daughter, Doña Agustina Crespo DeClouet and her three daughters. My late husband was Vicente Crespo.
