Represented by Mary Jo Hollander

I represent Doña Maria Luisa Martin y Dainesse Philibert, a blanca woman born in New Orleans in 1770. (My name is also spelled Marie Louise in the New Orleans records) My parents were Francisco Martin, born in Saintes, Saintonge, France; and Margarita Dainesse (also spelled Denes), a native of New Orleans.

I became the second wife of Pedro Philibert of Lorraine, France in 1794 in New Orleans. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 48 years old. Pedro and I lived on the family farm with four of our adult children, two of whom were married. My death is recorded in the burial records of St. Michael’s parish: September 24, 1843, at the age of 77.
