I represent Doña Maria Merced Caro, a blanca woman born in Mobile. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 16 years old and lived with my widowed mother, Doña Maria Machado Caro, and my four siblings. On November 9, 1823, I married Francisco de Palmes at St. Michael’s.
