I represent Doña Ysabel Leonina de la Paz de la Rua (called Ysabel), a blanca girl born in New Orleans in 1809. My parents were Francisco de la Rua of Madrid, and Josefa Suarez Falcon de la Rua, of the city of Tirajana in the Canary Islands. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 10 years old, living in a household with my widowed mother and four siblings. I would later marry Francisco “Faruco” Bonifay. I am buried in St. Michael’s cemetery.
