Joseph Suarez

I represent Joseph Suarez. I was born about 1798, though sources conflict as to when I settled in the West Florida/Alabama area. In 1819, I married Elizabeth Foster Villar, the widow of Martin Villar (a descendant of a man who fought with Bernardo de Galvez in 1781). We had two children: Joseph and Elizabeth, though our family included my three young Villar stepsons. For many years our family lived in Baldwin County, Alabama but we had strong ties to Pensacola and owned property there. I died in 1868 and am buried in the Old Spanish Cemetery in Lillian, AL.
