Juan Antonio Perez

I represent Juan Antonio Perez, a European man born in Galicia, Spain. I married Teresa Fernandez on Juany 17, 1814 at St. Michael’s in Pensacola. My marriage record states I was a Captain in the Louisiana Regiment, but at the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 39 years old and made my living as a pulpero, which can be translated as grocer or tavernkeeper, Teresa and I shared our household with 16-year-old blanca woman named Maria Gomez, but her relationship to us is not specified. (According to the will of Felipe Prieto, I was known as “Le Rubio.”)
