Juan (Noriega)

I represent Juan, a pardo boy enslaved in the household of Don Jose Noriega. I was baptized by Father Coleman at St. Michael’s on April 20, 1817, soon after my birth (my day of birth is illegible in the baptismal record). My mother, Rosa, was an enslaved negra woman in the same household. I was born into slavery by virtue of her enslaved status. My father is listed as no conocido (unknown) but that usually means that the man either did not want or was not able to acknowledge me.
