Pedro (Prieto)

Photo representing Pedro (Prieto)

Represented by Ari Diggs

I represent Pedro, a mulato boy enslaved in the household of Maria Prieto Quigles. At the time of the changing of the flags, I would have been about 4 years old. In an 1826 bill of sale in which Maria Prieto Quigles sold me, my mother, and my two younger sisters (Josefina, 3 years old, and Genoveva, 5 months old) to Luis Maestre for $1,100, she indicated my mother was Ursela, an enslaved negra woman in her household.
