I represent Santiago Bertrand, a free pardo boy born in Pensacola. My parents were the free pardos Gabriel and Maria de los Dolores Barcelo Bertand. I was baptized by Father Coleman at St. Michael’s on July 27, 1817. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 2 years old and had a new baby sister.
