Severino Palao

Photo representing Severino Palao

Represented by Aaron Watson

I represent Severino Palao, a free pardo man born in Louisiana. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 29 years old and working as a carpenter. I lived with my wife, Merced Vidal – a free parda woman who would figure mightily in the relations between General Andrew Jackson and Spanish governor Jose Callava within a few months of the transition – and our two children.
