Sofhia (de la Rua)

I represent Sofhia, a free negra woman in the household of Don Juan de la Rua. I was listed in the 1820 Spanish Census of Pensacola without a last name; it is unclear whether I would have used “de la Rua” or not. I was born in Pensacola and was 30 years old in 1820. It is possible I was an employee of the household. More research is needed to complete my story.
