Ysabel (Innerarity)

I represent Ysabel, a girl of color born in the Tallapoosa nation, enslaved in the household of Don Juan Innerarity. I was baptized by Father Coleman at St. Michael’s on June 29, 1819; the record estimates my age at about 7 years old at the time. My mother’s name was Menti; a negra woman who was enslaved in the same household. My father is listed as no conocido (unknown) – but that usually means that the man either did not want or was not able to acknowledge me. I also had a brother named Florencio.
