I represent Don Leocadio Bonifay, a blanco boy born in Pensacola. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 8 years old, and was listed as “Juan.” I lived with my father, Don Manuel Bonifay; my mother, Doña Teresa Yniestra Bonifay; and 7 siblings. We lived on a farm outside of town. On November 18, 1839, I married Irene Gonzalez at St. Michael’s in Pensacola. My burial appears in the records of St. Michael’s cemetery: August 27, 1895, and it indicates I died of old age. I am buried in an unmarked grave in St. Michael’s cemetery.
