I represent Doña Josefa Gonzalez, a blanca woman born in Pensacola. My parents were Manuel and Maria Bonifay Gonzalez. I married Juan Gonzalez on May 5, 1820 at St. Michael’s in Pensacola.
At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 18 years old, and Juan and I had an infant son. We lived on my family’s ranch outside of town, where General Andrew Jackson and his troops camped when he first arrived in the area. Our household was large and consisted of my parents and my 8 siblings, including one other besides me who was married and had a small child.
My death is recorded in the burial records of St. Michael’s parish: October 1, 1841.
