I represent Doña Margarita Bonifay de la Rua, blanca woman born in Pensacola. I was a daughter of Mariana Pingrow Bonifay and her first husband, Don Jose Bonifay.
At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 32 years old and married to Don Juan de la Rua, a local merchant. We had two daughters living in our home. Also in our household were a free negra woman and another single blanca woman whose relationship to us is unclear.
My death is recorded in the burial records of St. Michael’s parish: June 2, 1842, at the age of 53.
