I represent Elizabeth Ann Suarez, daughter of Joseph Suarez and Elizabeth Foster Villar Suarez. I was born around 1821, so I would have been a newborn infant at the time of the changing of the flags. My father was Elizabeth’s second husband; they married in 1819 in Mobile after the death of her first husband, Martin Villar. I had one older brother, Joseph W. Suarez, and three older half-brothers who were Villars. Though the family was probably in Baldwin County, Alabama at the time of the changing of the flags, we had strong ties to Pensacola and owned property there for many years.
