I represent John Campbell. I was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and according to family records, served in the Royal Navy. It is said that I saw Pensacola during the War of 1812 and liked it so much that I returned here – after marrying Ann Corpe back in England. In 1821 we had two children: Ann and Emily. Soon after Florida became American I owned a schooner called Harriet which ran supplies from New Orleans and Mobile to Pensacola. I was also involved in lumber in Conecuh County, Alabama. I served for decades as a City alderman beginning in 1828 and I was a founding member of Christ Church. I am buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
