I represent Luis Sausa (sometimes seen spelled “Sousa”), a blanco man born in Louisiana. My parents were Jose Domingo Sausa, a native of the Canary Islands, and Maria Garcia Sausa of New Orleans. At the time of the 1820 census, I was 19 years old and made my living as a tailor. I lived with my parents and four siblings. My father was a Spanish officer, clerk to the Spanish governor Jose Callava.
